Forest Fact File - Sustainability
Resource Assessment Commission and Commonwealth EPA Views
It is a myth that RAC supports the view that current forestry
is environmentally sustainable. In "The Development of scientific
criteria for Commonwealth government purchases of environmentally
preferred paper products", by CEPA they said that "...the RAC
inquiry report recognised a difference between obtaining sustainable
fibre yield from native forests and maintaining a viable ecosystem.".
On old growth forest logging CEPA said that such logging "has
been demonstrated to be environmentally unsustainable.".
